DECORATIONS
Clowns can be such fun. These projects were created by 10-14 year olds.
PAINTINGS OF CLOWNS
I had my students draw and paint clown faces. We looked at pictures on the internet for inspiration. Use poster board, foam core, canvas board, canvas. Use acrylics--those in tubes are thicker requiring fewer layers but more expensive than craft paint--craft paint needs multiple layers to get vibrant colors.CLOWN MASKS
Then, we blew up large balloons and used paper mache. This makes two masks and can be cut with scissors.
You can also use a large bowl for a more round face.
Paper mache-- I use equal parts white glue and water and strips of newspaper. Do three or four layers. For the final layer, use white computer paper. This gives a better base for painting.
Punch holes on side and add ribbon to tying to the back of the head. Cut out eyes.
I use these as decorations at a party.
Add colorful tablecloths, paper supplies and balloons.
FOOD AND DRINKS
Serve colorful food and drinks.
Multiple punch bowls--purple grape juice punch, big red punch, lemonade or orange juice punch.
Snacks: colorful jelly beans, life savers, fruit chews, colorful cupcakes.
